Australian port infrastructure fees were introduced as of 1 March 2020 and apply to all FCL shipments and billable at $450.00 AUD per container (20ft or 40ft)
Rates offered are based on all items being internationally wrapped, packed, labelled, numbered and invented with full descriptions. This is essential for customs/quarantine processing.
Rates do not apply to SOC/packed by owner containers or containers with raw/unwrapped items. Any shipment received that are not internationally packed, wrapped, labelled, numbered and inventoried will incur additional charges and risk further examination costs by quarantine and customs.

Service Inclusions
- GST (Goods & Services Tax 10% if applicable)
- Processing and documentation for normal UPE’s
- Uplift of container intact from port
- Container transfer from the port to our depot
- Return of empty container
- Normal customs clearance
- Delivery to ground floor or 1st floor if 1st is ground
- Unwrapping & placement of furniture
- Unpacking of professional packed cartons to benchtop/flat surfaces (not the floor)
- Removal of debris on day of delivery
- 10 business days free storage
Service Exclusions
- Local Port THC/Port Charges/Doc Fees/NVOCC Charges - anything we need to pay to obtain a delivery order from the steamship line or forwarder on arrival of the shipment
- Quarantine Inspection Charges
- Quarantine Treatments Fees if ordered (including transport charges relating to treatment/fumigation)
- Payment of Customs Duty and Sales or other Taxes
- Customs Examination attendance or extensive Quarantine and associated costs
- Port X-ray and similar customs fees when applicable
- Demurrage Costs, Bond Charges, Container Detention Fees. Additional fees payable to third parties, eg freight forwarders NVOCC carriers or intermediaries, insurance or container rental fees.
- Specialist services, ie. high rise/elevator deliveries, carpenters, cabinet makers, electricians, plumbers, servicing, assembly, or reassembly or re-erection of modular furniture or flat packed furniture such as IKEA brand and wall units.
- units etc, requiring specialist tools, including wall units, trampolines, climbing frames, and swing sets etc.
- Special parking/permit cost
- Special items such as pianos or other large furniture or other or other heavy or difficult to handle items
- Delivery other than one direct delivery with reasonable access and delivery conditions (for a legally parked large
- delivery vehicle able to park adjacent to residence entrance), no long carries (ie. over 25 metres/75 feet), not
- above 1st floor (or one level), and no shuttle vehicles or cranes required
- Motor Vehicles, Motor Bikes, Caravans, Motor Homes, Boats, Trailers etc mentioned in our quote are included to
- hand out
- Vehicle Valuation and Documentary Asbestos Assessment Fee (Est AUD 450.00)
Comments
Port Terminal Handling Fees: It is recommended to pre-pay DTHC / Port Terminal Handling charges where possible as it is often much more cost-effective than at a local level. Should Palmers Relocations pay these charges, it will be invoiced back to service agent at cost plus a 10% administration fee on invoice.
*** Please note from 1st December to 15th January we have a peak season surcharge of $1000 per 20' and $2000 per 40' container.
