Customs clearance process and required documentation in Finland

Finland is part of the EU and generally the importclearance procedure is straight forward and there are seldom delays. Normalimport customs clearance takes approximately 2 to 4 business days to completeafter shipment’s actual arrival to Finland, provided that all documentation isin order and completed in full as requested.

The Shipper must be in Finland prior to the arrival of the shipment and must be moving their main residence to Finland at that time. Goods sent to a holiday home or a secondary home in Finland are not exempt from tax if the person moving does not set up permanent residence in Finland. Customs duties and import taxes accordant with the commodity codes must be paid for such goods.

The Shipper must have lived abroad (outside the EU area) for more than 12 months and must have owned the goods for more than 6 months prior to departure from the origin country. The shipper has up to 12 months time to import household goods to Finland after their first arrival.

It is highly recommended that you advise the shipper to be available for final delivery within the free period time provided by the shipping-line to avoid additional costs.

Motor vehicles

Motor vehicles can be imported as part of a household goods shipment to Finland. Vehicle tax will also apply at time of registration. We can deliver and unload vehicles at residence.
